Science Fiction
Life, the universe and Walthamstowe?
Science Fiction has followed science fact for more years than I can remember. Though in many ways it has been the other ways around. Take for example Star Trek and the use of hand held communications devices that can reach around the globe. Or the predictions that Jules Verne made about atomic powered submarines? (was it Jules Verne? I can't remember...)
Whichever way you look at it, Science Fiction has had an effect on everyday science. The theories behind some of the most basic science fiction ideas have often been based upon real ones, and the ideas that have featured most heavilly in some of the best science fiction stories have often become reality.
Its just a shame that no-one has developed a working warp drive yet...
